Thursday morning’s blockbuster deal has created quite the headache for the Oakland A’s marketing department.
That’s the ad that — as of 10:20 a.m. Thursday — prominently was displayed on the Oakland A’s homepage.
Plans for Yoenis Cespedes T-Shirt Night appear to have been scrapped now that the power-hitting outfielder has been dealt to the Boston Red Sox for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes — a trade that bolsters an already formidable A’s pitching staff and gives the Red Sox the outfield bat they so desperately need.
Cespedes swung a big bat for Oakland this season, batting .256 with 17 home runs and leading baseball’s best offense with 102 hits.
