Brock Holt, Red Sox Look To Stay Hot As They Open Series With Blue Jays

Brock HoltBoston Red Sox utility man Brock Holt just continues to get it done as arguably the club’s most consistent player this season.

The Sox have started to heat up as a team in the last week or so, though, and they’ll try to extend their winning streak to five games on Monday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Holt continues to be the catalyst for the Sox atop the batting order. He’s played in all 479 innings of the team’s last 52 games since taking over as the leadoff hitter. All he’s done in that time is lead the major leagues in hits.

Holt has been especially hot lately and will put his six-game hitting streak on the line against Drew Hutchison and the Jays on Monday night. Holt is hitting .500 (14-for-28) in that six-game streak, and Boston has gone 5-1 in those games.

Holt will be back in right field for the series opener after playing the last two games in the infield. Holt is going back to right in order to facilitate a day off for Shane Victorino while the veteran outfielder eases his way back into the mix after returning from the disabled list this weekend against the Kansas City Royals.

John Lackey will make the start on the mound for the Red Sox.

Here are the lineups for both clubs in the series opener.
