south carolina stingraysThe Boston Bruins have renewed their affiliation with the South Carolina Stingrays of the Eastern Conference Hockey League for the 2014-15 season, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced Thursday.

The Stingrays finished third in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference with a 43-23-6 record last season, their second as a Bruins affiliate. The club’s three ECHL championships are tied for most all-time.

“It has been a great relationship,” head coach Spencer Carbery, recipient of the 2014 John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year, said in a league press release. “We have a lot of respect for the way they do things in Providence (home of the Bruins’ AHL affiliate) and Boston. We are happy to be back on board and excited about the future with them.”

South Carolina will play under dual affiliation during the upcoming season after signing an agreement with the Washington Capitals earlier this summer.
