NBA rookies don’t have a whole lot of free time in the weeks immediately following the draft, but Boston Celtics first-round pick James Young was able to take a little break from basketball Wednesday night.

Before the team heads to Orlando for the NBA summer league Friday, the No. 17 overall pick visited Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox-Chicago Cubs game from the Green Monster seats.

“This is actually my first baseball game ever,” Young told CSNNE.com. “Being at the Green Monster is very special. … I can’t wait for our first game at the Garden. I’m sure it’s going to be sold out, they show a lot of support here.”

The Red Sox didn’t give Young an ideal introduction to the sport, though, allowing a season-high 16 runs in a blowout loss.
