David Ortiz passed a Boston Red Sox legend on the all-time home run list Monday night after belting two home runs during his team’s 14-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ortiz’s 453rd home run put him at 36th all-time, which put him ahead of Carl Yastrzemski, and after the game he joked that he’s “bigger than him.”
Of course, he later said that he’s only physically bigger than Yaz and talked about the significance of his accomplishment.
“Thank God everything is going the way it is,” Ortiz said. “Hopefully things continue.”
Tom Caron and Steve Lyons talked about how Ortiz is now on the Mount Rushmore of Red Sox home run hitters.
