David OrtizThe Boston Red Sox have a full slate of baseball on Saturday. David Ortiz won’t be participating in the first half of it.

Boston’s opening game of a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles was rained out on Friday and moved to Saturday at 1:05 p.m. as part of a day-night doubleheader.

To accommodate for this change, manager John Farrell will give Ortiz the afternoon game off, as A.J. Pierzynski will bat fifth in the designated hitter spot.

Also taking a seat will be Sox rookie Mookie Betts, who will give way to Jackie Bradley Jr. in center field batting ninth.

Stephen Drew will make his return to Boston’s lineup after sitting against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Daniel Nava is also back in the Red Sox lineup, batting second and playing left field.

David Ross will bat eighth and assume catching duties for starting pitcher Jon Lester, who has allowed just four earned runs in his last four starts while earning four straight victories.
