After amassing over 3,300 career strikeouts, 355 wins and four Cy Young Awards, it’s fair to say that Greg Maddux was on fire many times throughout his baseball career.

That said, we learned Sunday during his Hall of Fame induction speech that the ace started catching fire long before his baseball career.

When thanking his brother, Mike, Maddux made a joke about how his older brother taught him how to set his flatulence on fire back when they were kids.

“My brother Mike led by example. … He even taught me about science,” Maddux said. “It had to do with a little methane and a lighter, and I still get a huge kick out of it today.”

It’s definitely nice to see Maddux, who developed a penchant for being a prankster over his MLB career, hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
