Jake Peavy Slides For Putout At First After Mike Napoli’s Grab (Video)

Boston Red Sox pitchers have recorded some odd outs this weekend against the Houston Astros.

Reliever Burke Badenhop combined with Mike Carp and laid himself out to make a weird but spectacular out Friday. Starter Jake Peavy accomplished something similar Saturday.

With two outs and a runner on second, Mike Napoli made a nice snag behind first on a ball hit by Marwin Gonzalez. Peavy headed for the bag and slid into it, ball in hand, to make the out, end the seventh inning and keep the game tied.

Peavy’s slide didn’t seem entirely necessary — Gonzalez wasn’t running particularly fast — but it looked awesome nonetheless.
