John Lackey has been a key piece in the Boston Red Sox’s starting rotation since 2013, but his past three outings have been a little rocky. He’ll look to turn that around Friday night against the Houston Astros.
In his last three starts, the usually dominant Lackey has given up 16 earned runs. This could be due to some fatigue. Lackey has been struggling to get through six innings, his pitch count has been rising and he has been throwing more breaking balls while he’s usually a fastball pitcher.
Whatever the reason, the All-Star break should do Lackey some good.
