John Lackey Wins Amica Pitcher Of The Week

John LackeyOver the past several weeks, Boston Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester turned in a string of impressive performances to earn him Amica Pitcher of the Week honors three consecutive times.

This week, it was John Lackey’s turn.

The Red Sox righthander was the lone bright spot during a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, shutting down the Jays in Boston’s 14-1 blowout win at the Rogers Centre to become this week’s Amica Pitcher of the Week.

Lackey allowed just two hits and one earned run over seven innings in an economical outing to earn his team-high 11th win of the season. The 35-year-old righty threw 58 of his 76 pitches for strikes and issued no walks while striking out three batters.

Lackey’s ERA now stands at 3.60 after surrendering just two earned runs in a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.
