Lionel Messi would have rather been celebrating Argentina’s win over the Netherlands on Wednesday with his teammates in the locker room.

But after Argentina won in penalty kicks to advance to the World Cup final, Messi was summoned to a mandatory doping test. United States goalie Tim Howard, as you might recall, experienced the same treatment from FIFA after his 16-save game against Belgium on July 1.

Here’s what Messi posted to his Instagram account after the game with the caption, “I’ve been called for doping control and I can’t be enjoying the moment in the dressing room. I feel proud to be a part of this team! Phenomenons every one of them! What a game they had. This is crazy. We’re in the final! Let’s enjoy this, a hug to all of Argentina, we have just one step left.”

Messi and Argentina will take on Germany in the World Cup final on Sunday. If Argentina defeats Germany, here’s to hoping Messi gets to celebrate the thrill of victory with his squad.
