All Danny Nickerson wanted for his sixth birthday were some birthday cards. He got plenty of those, and on Friday, he got one really, really cool birthday celebration.
Nickerson’s story has gone viral this week. The Foxboro, Mass., native was diagnosed in November with a rare, inoperable brain tumor. His sixth birthday is Friday, and his family wanted to do something special for him on his big day. They asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he had a simple answer: He loves receiving mail, so he just wanted a bunch of birthday cards.
As his story swept across the Internet and all of social media, the cards started flooding in to Danny’s P.O. box. His best birthday card, however, might have been presented to him in person Friday afternoon.
The New England Patriots invited Nickerson to drop by Gillette Stadium to do some birthday celebrating. Patriots owner Robert Kraft met with the youngster, and the team rolled out the red carpet for Danny.

Nickerson also was presented with a birthday card, of course, signed by head coach Bill Belichick and the entire Patriots team. According to the Boston Herald, Nickerson also was given some Patriots-themed LOGOs and a Patriots jersey.
