PawSox Pitcher Tommy Layne To Join Red Sox For Game 2 Of Doubleheader (Video)

A new rule instituted by Major League Baseball this season allows teams to add a 26th player to their roster on days when they play a doubleheader.

Left-handed pitcher Tommy Layne will benefit from that rule on Saturday, as he gets the call from Triple-A Pawtucket and will be available to the Boston Red Sox for the second game of their doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles.

The 29-year-old Layne has impressed in Pawtucket so far this season, compiling a 5-1 record with a 1.51 ERA and six saves in 30 appearances for the PawSox.

Hear what manager John Farrell had to say about Layne in the video above.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
