It appears Avery Bradley isn’t going anywhere.
The 23-year-old free-agent point guard has agreed to terms on a new contract with the Boston Celtics, a source told the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett on Wednesday.
League sources told The Boston Globe’s Baxter Holmes that the contract is worth $32 million over four years. The deal won’t become official until teams officially can sign free agents July 10.
The Celtics extended a qualifying offer Monday to Bradley, who became a restricted free agent July 1 after four seasons in Boston. Bradley told reporters at his basketball camp later that day that he hoped to remain with the team that drafted him.
“Boston is my home now,” Bradley said, via ESPN.com. “I’ve been living here for four years. I feel like the community, they know me. I feel like they think I’m from here because I’ve been living here for so long.”
With Bradley, who averaged a career-high 14.9 points in 60 games last season, reportedly returning, the Celtics now are looking at a very crowded backcourt after they drafted guards Marcus Smart and James Young last week. The team also reportedly reached out to free-agent guards Isaiah Thomas and Kent Bazemore on Tuesday, and point guard Rajon Rondo remains under contract with the Celtics despite ongoing trade rumors.
