The Miami Heat’s Big Three could be inching closer to an NBA-altering break-up. With LeBron James rumors circulating, it sounds as if Chris Bosh is also seriously contemplating a change of address.
ESPN.com and Yahoo! Sports are both reporting that Bosh is mulling a large offer from the Houston Rockets. According to the Yahoo! Sports report, Bosh spoke with the Rockets for the first time on Monday morning. The Texas native reportedly wants a big contract, and he can get that if he signs with Houston, assuming the Rockets can trade guard Jeremy Lin.
The Rockets reportedly have offered that to Bosh, which comes in the form of a four-year, $80 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports. ESPN’s Chris Broussard tweeted Monday afternoon that the contract offer on the table is actually for four years and $88 million.
It’s been widely reported that Bosh preferred to stay in Miami with James and Dwyane Wade, but that plan is in jeopardy. According to ESPN.com, Bosh spoke with James this past weekend about future plans, and that’s what’s led Bosh to open discussions with Houston.
The move certainly would make sense. Bosh would fit in nicely with the Rockets, who already have a pair of established stars in center Dwight Howard and guard James Harden. Bosh would also be returning to Texas (he’s from Dallas), and he would almost certainly be making more money than he would get in Miami where those stars would need to restructure to bring in more help.
