Paul Pierce has his sights set on a multiyear contract, and he’s willing to take a pay cut to get one.

Sources told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated on Monday that Pierce, who becameĀ an unrestricted free agent last week after one season with the Brooklyn Nets, is seeking a two-year contract worth between $9 million and $10 million annually.

No deal appearsĀ imminent, however, as Mannix reported that Pierce is waiting for the top dogs of this summer’s free-agent class to make their decisions first.

Pierce is drawing significant attentionĀ on the open market despite posting career lows in points (13.7) and minutes (28.0) per game last season. No fewer than six teams — including the Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks — reportedly have expressed interest in the 36-year-old small forward.

Pierce made $15.3 million on a one-year deal with Brooklyn last season.
