There will be a reunion in Cleveland this season.
In the Cavaliers’ first move since learning that LeBron James would be returning to Ohio, the franchise has reportedly reached an agreement with free agent Mike Miller on a two-year contract worth $5.5 million, ESPN.com reports, citing sources. The veteran will have a player option on the second year.
Miller took significantly less money to join LeBron in Cleveland in the hopes of winning another title with the four-time MVP after turning down higher offers from the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets during the offseason.
The 34-year-old came to Miami in 2010, the same year that James did. The two played three seasons together and won two championships before Miller was amnestied by the Heat last summer. Miller, who played the full 82-game slate with the Memphis Grizzles last season, shot 45.9 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 7.1 points per game.
LeBron was reportedly instrumental in bringing Miller to Cleveland, recruiting him heavily, which ultimately led him to choose the Cavaliers over other destinations, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard.
