With the Fourth of July approaching, the Boston Red Sox took some time out from Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs to honor members of the United States Armed Forces who decided to re-commit to another tour of duty.
NESN’s Gary Striewski caught up with Ray Mabus, the Secretary of the Navy, to talk about the three members of the U.S. Navy who took an oath to re-enlist. Mabus explained that the process is incredibly competitive, it’s a commitment for a number of years and they could be deployed to anywhere around the world.
The sailors, who have been stationed in the Boston area, could have chosen anywhere to take the oath, but they decided on a place that is special to all of them: Fenway Park.
