Woods completed his first round of the 2014 British Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club on Thursday three shots out of the lead. The three-time Open winner started a bit shaky on the front nine, but he picked it up on the back to end his round at 3-under-par 69.

It wasn’t the most impressive start, but it was enough to show the world that Woods still has what it takes to compete. This is Woods’ first major championship since he had surgery March 31 to repair a pinched nerve in his back.
