Montreal Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec is taking Brad Marchand’s comments in stride.
On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins agitator revealed at a charity dinner that out of everyone in the league, it is Plekanec who irritates him the most. It took nobody by surprise that Marchand’s least favorite player would be a member of the hated Habs, who eliminated the Black and Gold in the second round of the playoffs last season.
Despite Marchand nicely asking the crowd not to tweet his comments, it took just one day for Marchand’s comments to reach Plekanec in the Czech Republic, and he was ready and waiting with a dig of his own.
“I enjoyed his comment about me,” Plekanec told Czech journalist Zdenek Matejovsky “It comes from a person that actually almost everybody in the NHL hates!”
The two will have a chance to show each other just how much they dislike each other in person when the rivals play in their first regular-season meeting on Oct. 16 at the Bell Centre.
