For the Tampa Bay Rays, one of the nice things about playing indoors at Tropicana Field is that they don’t have to deal with the weather, or outside nature in general.
On Monday night, though, Tampa Bay’s climate-controlled bliss was interrupted by a rather strange sight.
In the second inning of the Rays’ game against the Kansas City Royals, several intrepid pigeons found their way onto the field of play and sat contentedly on the right side of the infield while the game continued around them.

These bold birds apparently hadn’t heard about Sunday’s incident, when a minor league pitcher drilled a bird with a pitch, Randy Johnson-style.
After a brief stay in the infield, the pigeons finally decided that it wasn’t the best place to be and flew away.
Perhaps they were fed up with the Rays’ lack of offense, as Tampa Bay mustered just four hits on the night in a 6-0 loss.
Fortunately, the Rays’ Twitter account was able to have a little fun with the situation.
