Urban Meyer is baffled.
The coach who led Tim Tebow to success at the University of Florida does not know why his former quarterback has gone almost a full year now without an NFL job.
“I still don’t get that part of it,” Meyer told NFL.com at Big Ten media day. “He’s the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football.”
What the Ohio State head coach seems to not grasp is the fact that while Tebow was the second-most efficient passer in college football, he was the second-least efficient passer among NFL quarterbacks who played at least 14 games in 2011.
That, along with the media circus that surrounds Tebow, who likely wouldn’t even be a starter on any team after so much time away from the game, is keeping teams away from the former Denver Bronco.
That said, Meyer feels that Tebow would be more successful if he was on a team with the right system.
“I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult,” Meyer said, “but there’s a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL.”
Meyer would not say which NFL teams would fit best for his former gunslinger.
