USA Goalie Tim Howard Lets New York Knicks Know He’s Available (Photo)

U.S. soccer goalkeeper Tim Howard protected his territory well during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, including a record-setting 16-save performance in a 2-1 loss against Belgium.

After the New York Knicks traded away Tyson Chandler to the Dallas Mavericks on June 25, it’s also safe to say they could use some help on defense.

That’s where Howard comes in.

Howard tweeted this picture of himself Thursday, offering his help to the Knicks.

Howard grew up in North Brunswick, N.J., which is about 40 miles from Madison Square Garden. The 35-year-old goalie was a star for North Brunswick High’s basketball team and would routinely match up against former Chicago Bulls point guard Jay Williams, who attended St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J.

If he can block as well in basketball as he can in soccer, the Knicks might want to consider giving him a call.
