Wes WelkerNot only does Wes Welker play for a team named after a horse, he owns one that races in England.

The Denver Broncos wide receiver hopped across the pond to see his aptly-named horse, Undrafted, race in the July Cup. Of course, Welker wasn’t selected by any team in the 2004 NFL Draft and decided naming his young colt after his draft status.

Undrafted, who was bought by Welker for £29,000  (about $36,640) in 2012, finished fourth in the race. Despite not winning, the four-year-old gelding has won four races this year.

Interestingly, Undrafted doesn’t race well on the dirt tracks of the United States. He’s more suited for the turf courses overseas.

Meanwhile, Welker seemed to be enjoying not being recognized by anyone at the race track.

“It’s nice to just go to the betting window and not have to worry about taking selfies with people,” Welker told BBC Radio.
