Oakland Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp sported a rather interesting new haircut on Friday night, and it left most people wondering where he got his inspiration from.

Crisp, who played for the Red Sox from 2006-08, appears to have missed a spot when shaving the back of his head. Rodger Sherman of SB Nation has coined it a neck mustache, which seems to be appropriate.

That hair style is pretty bold, to say the least.

It must have brought good luck to the 34-year-old leadoff hitter, as Crisp belted a two-run triple to deep right center field in the fifth inning against the Minnesota Twins, then later scored on a passed ball.

Crisp has hit safely in each of his last four games. If it has anything to do with the new haircut, we’re wondering if fellow Oakland teammates will adopt the style.

Former Boston Red Sox players Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes both don’t have enough hair to pull off the “neck mustache,” though, which in retrospect is probably a good thing.
