Thursday’s preseason opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals was more of a track meet than a football game, so it’s only fitting that a former track star stole the show.

The game, a 41-39 barn burner won by Kansas City, featured four return touchdowns (three interception, one punt) on top of a 69-yard catch-and-run. The most impressive of all, though, came courtesy of Chiefs rookie speedster De’Anthony Thomas, who escaped an initial tackle before finding a seam and leaving the Bengals’ punt team in the dust.

That’s what they call “game-changing speed.”

The Oregon product also returned a kickoff 35 yards in the game and looks to be a factor in the Chiefs’ return game this season.
