The ice bucket challenge is showing no signs of letting up, and two of Boston’s most powerful sports minds are getting in on the fun.

The challenge, as just about everyone has seen in the last couple of weeks, involves dumping ice-cold water over your head with the hopes of raising awareness and funds for ALS research.

Many sports figures both in Boston and across the world are supporting cause. Most recently, it’s Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien and Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens who are up for the chilly challenge.

Julien accepted the challenge from Bruins strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides and extended the challenge to B’s general manager Peter Chiarelli, assistant general manager Don Sweeney and assistant coach Doug Jarvis.

Julien wasn’t alone in recently answering the bell. Goalie Tuukka Rask did his on Monday at Shawn Thornton’s charity golf tournament, while Zdeno Chara and David Krejci recently joined, too.

Stevens, meanwhile, went in a different direction with his, as the Celtics head coach challenged all C’s fans to take the plunge .

Julien and Stevens might not be the only members of the Boston coaching fraternity to get in on the ice bucket challenge. New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Monday that he also has something planned, too.

The efforts are paying off, too, apparently, as donations for ALS research are currently through the roof.
