TAT&T Stadium he New York Jets are not the only football team in the business of making bold moves.

The Dallas Cowboys sent out an extra surprise to their season ticket holders this week. Along with the preseason and regular-season tickets, the Cowboys also included tickets to potential postseason games. Dallas finished 8-8 in 2013, and has not reached the playoffs since the 2009 season.

“It’s a convenience for our season ticket holders to have everything in one package,” said the Cowboys director of corporate communications Brett Daniels, via ESPN. “It’s an evolution to be fan-friendly.”

Instead of mailing out tickets to fans in early December, the Cowboys said they felt sending out the tickets to fans well in advance would be beneficial for the team. A letter included with the tickets said the barcodes on the playoff tickets will get activated if the team clinches a home game.

NFL senior vice president of club business development Brian Lafemina said the Cowboys are the first team to use this system, but that they probably won’t be the last.

“It’s operationally efficient for the teams, and it’s convenient for the fan,” Lafemina said. “There are times when teams don’t know if they are hosting a playoff game until a week before, and doing this helps eliminate some of the friction that exists among the teams and fans.”

Quarterback Tony Romo and Co. have their work cut out for them if they want those barcodes to activate.
