NFL: New England Patriots-Training CampNewly-acquired cornerback Darrelle Revis won’t be limited by the New England Patriots this season, and that could be bad news for opposing offenses.

Revis, who signed a contract for one-year, $12 million with the Patriots during the off-season, said Friday that head coach Bill Belichick is willing to listen to the 29-year-old’s suggestions anytime.

“You know, Coach Belichick is very open about football,” Revis said after training camp on Friday night. “It’s football talk. He’s very open about it, and you can go to him about anything.”

Revis says he’s willing to do whatever it takes for the team to win, and that’s what talks between he and Belichick are centered around.

“We’re just trying to get ready and get prepared,” Revis said. “Anything that’s best for the team, that’s going to put us in a position to win. That’s all we try to do: football talk.”

Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison was at Gillette Stadium Friday for Ty Law’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and spoke about Revis’ expectations in New England.

Playing for Belichick, according to Harrison, might be the perfect situation for the five-time Pro Bowl selection.

“He’s gonna say, ‘Darrelle, this is you’re assignment. If you wanna play bump, if you wanna play press, whatever you want to do… Just get the job done,'” Harrison said.

Harrison played the last eight years of his career in New England. He won two Super Bowl championships under Belichick, whom he “enjoyed” playing for.

“When you have a veteran player that you know you can trust, and that they prepare, he’ll just let you go out and play,” Harrison said. “That’s why its fun to play for Bill.”

Harrison also expressed his view on where Revis stands amongst other NFL cornerbacks.

“The best cornerback on the planet is here in New England, and he will prove it this year,” Harrison said.
