Think the rivalry between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens is on hold during the NHL offseason?

If so, you’re wrong. Let us present the reason why.

Boston’s own Dropkick Murphys traveled to Montreal, Quebec, this weekend to play in front of thousands of fans at the annual “Heavy Montreal” music festival. As one might expect, the majority of the fans in attendance were Habs fans. The Murphys, hailing from Quincy, Mass., are diehard Bruins fans.

That issue came to a head — quite literally — during their set on Saturday. The band’s frontman, Ken Casey, captured the scene.

That’s Casey’s son, Liam, beheading and generally destroying a Canadiens doll in front of 50,000 angry metal-loving Habs fans. Talk about a bold move.

Supporters of the Canadiens will point to their beloved team’s triumphant victory over the B’s in the second round of the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs and say they got the last laugh.

As Casey and the Murphys blatantly demonstrated this weekend, though, the Black and Gold are out for revenge.
