BOSTON — Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia suffered a foot injury Friday against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park.

Pedroia fouled a ball off his right foot during his second at-bat in the third inning of the Red Sox’s 5-3, 10-inning loss. He initially remained in the game but exited following his final at-bat in the eighth inning.

Kelly Johnson replaced Pedroia at second base and made the final out in the bottom of the 10th.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said after the game that he noticed Pedroia favoring his right foot while running down the line during his eighth-inning groundout. Pedroia was sore upon leaving the game, according to Farrell, and will be evaluated Saturday upon arriving at Fenway.

Pedroia underwent surgery after fouling a ball off his left foot in 2010.
