Ezequiel Carrera — that’s a name Detroit Tigers fans will want to remember.
The Tigers center fielder has only played in three games this season since being called up after Austin Jackson was traded for pitcher David Price, but he made a huge defensive impact in his first start with the team against the New York Yankees.
In a scoreless tie in the second inning, Jacoby Ellsbury sent a fly ball deep to center field. That’s when Carrera took over.

Carrera essentially defied the laws of physics with that grab.
It ended up being a sacrifice fly, but there’s no doubt that it could’ve been a lot worse, especially with Ellsbury running the bases.
If he keeps making plays like that, Carrera might find this call-up lasts a little longer than any in the past.
