Outfielders are taught in Little League to catch a baseball with two hands. San Francisco Giants outfielder Juan Perez didn’t adhere to that advice Monday afternoon.

Perez was stationed in left field during San Francisco’s game against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Like many outfielders, Perez wears his sunglasses on top of his hat — not on his face. That move almost came back to bite him on a Curtis Granderson fly ball.

Granderson hit a routine fly ball to left field that nearly turned into a hit because of Perez’s decision to yank the sunglasses off of his hat. He clutched the glasses with his right hand and somehow made the catch with his glove.

Perez, and other Major League outfielders for that matter, wouldn’t have this problem if they went back to the traditional flip-down sunglasses.
