If Henry Owens keeps pitching the way he did Monday night in his first start with Triple-A Pawtucket, he’ll be on the hill at Fenway Park in no time.
Owens earned the win for the PawSox and pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and two hits allowed. Of the 100 pitches Owens threw, 70 were strikes, and he only walked three batters as Pawtucket defeated the Columbus Clippers 5-0.
The pitching prospect wasn’t the only young stud to make his Triple-A debut. Owens’ batterymate Blake Swihart also played in his first game with the PawSox and went 0-for-3 batting eighth in the order.
Despite going hitless in the game, Swihart did a great job behind the plate.

Despite the good news from the farm, the Red Sox also received some scary news as third baseman Garin Cecchini got drilled in the jaw with the baseball on a double play ball.
He was taken out of the game, but reports say the infielder should be fine.
