NFL legend Jim Kelly’s career was successful for many reasons, but the one trait that truly defined the former QB was toughness. Now, more so than ever, Kelly is calling on that toughness.

Kelly has needed to be tough over and over during his NFL career, but that was nothing compared to what he’s had to wrestle with in retirement. The 54-year-old is in the midst of battling cancer and everything that comes with it, but he’s not letting it slow him down.

Kelly is still making sure he’s able to do things that are important to him. That includes making a recent appearance at his football camp and continuing work in the community in honor of his late son Hunter, who passed away at just 8 years old after a battle with Krabbe leukodystrophy.

NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” profiled Kelly’s battle in a moving piece aired during halftime of the Hall of Fame game on Sunday night.
