Jonny Gomes already is having a good time in his new home.

Gomes, who was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Oakland Athletics before last week’s Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline, appeared on MLB Network’s “Intentional Talk” this week. While chatting with the show’s hosts, Kevin Millar and Chris Rose, Gomes introduced the world to the A’s “NBA referee.”

The ref is none other than Gomes’ teammate, Stephen Vogt. Vogt is a jack of all trades — he has played catcher, first base and the outfield this season — but his referee imitation might be his best talent. That’s saying something for a guy hitting well over .300.

There are plenty of characters on the Athletics’ roster. Plus, the A’s are playing winning baseball. When you add Gomes into the mix, things are bound to escalate even further.

Apparently, they already have.
