There was a very close call at Nationals Park on Sunday when a little girl almost got hit by a Stephen Strasburg warm-up pitch.

The youngster was on the field for some Washington Nationals’ pregame festivities, but she opted for a dangerous exit off the diamond as she bolted right between Strasburg and home plate during his warm-up tosses.

Fortunately, disaster was avoided as catcher Jose Lobaton saw her coming and put his hands up to alert the hard throwing right-hander, who was beginning his delivery. Second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera did the same, and Strasburg seemed to notice her out of the corner of his eye, as well.

The little girl might have been fine, but from the look of the video, it appears her father might still be recovering from the incident.
