With right winger Jarome Iginla headed to the Colorado Avalanche next season, the Boston Bruins are in need of someone to take his spot on the first line.
And that someone might be right under their noses.
Ring winger Loui Eriksson had a lackluster 2013-14 season thanks to two concussions, but if he’s healthy next season, he could be the solution to the Bruins’ top line needs. Eriksson played the majority of the last season on the third line with Carl Soderberg and Chris Kelly, but he was one of the top forwards for the Dallas Stars before the B’s acquired him via trade last offseason.
The Bruins might want to trade for a top line guy instead to retain their depth at the position, but if they’re unable to, Eriksson could prove to be a solid candidate for the job.
