Seattle Mariners farmhand Jesus Montero — once one of baseball’s top prospects — had to be restrained as part of an altercation with a scout. According to MiLB.com, Montero was held back by coaches and teammates as he attempted to climb into the stands to fight the scout.

The whole thing started when the unnamed scout heckled Montero — coaching first base for Seattle’s short-season club in Everett, Wash. — telling Montero to hustle off the field. The scout then took things to another level when he ordered an ice cream sandwich and had it sent to the dugout.

When the ice cream sandwich was delivered to Montero (who came to spring training this season 40 pounds overweight), he flipped. According to the MiLB.com report, Montero armed himself with a bat and the sandwich and tried to get into the stands to fight the scout. Luckily, he was held back, but he was still able to fire the frozen treat at the scout.

Montero, once ranked a top-10 prospect in all of baseball, has spent the majority of his season in the minors and is in Everett while rehabbing an oblique strain. The catcher-turned-first baseman also was suspended for 50 games last season for his role in the Biogenesis scandal.
