They call the curveball the “knee-buckler” for a reason.

Seattle Mariners reliever Yoervis Medina is just one of the many strong arms in an up-and-coming bullpen. Up 0-and-2 against Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez in eighth inning on Friday night, Medina showcased his nasty breaking pitch.

Medina’s 86-mph curveball absolutely fooled Ramirez. The pitch missed catcher Mike Zunino’s target on the outside part of the plate, but broke inside to catch the inner half of the plate.

Ramirez might have guessed that the pitch would be outside and never expected the pitch to be on the inner half. The shortstop could only smile after falling to the ground on both knees.

The rest of Seattle’s pitching staff kept Chicago off balance as well, as the Mariners defeated the White Sox 4-1.
