University of Michigan wide receiver Csont’e York was suspended indefinitely for “failing to meet team standards” earlier this month, and now, MLive.com is shedding some light on the reason for the suspension.
According to MLive.com, the Ann Arbor police department released a video that shows the 20-year-old sophomore sucker punching a 23-year-old man outside of a downtown bar around 2:15 a.m. on July 18.
The victim broke his jaw in three places, requiring it to be wired shut, and also lost a tooth as a result of the violent strike, the police report states.
According to the police report, the confrontation stemmed from an argument about football and hockey. In addition, York — who is wearing a fishing cap in the video above — and his teammate Da’Mario Jones were also jawing with the victim, whom they believed intentionally bumped into them.
York will be charged on Aug. 22 with a count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery, per MLive.com.
