New York Islanders forwards Nikolai Kulemin and Mikhail Grabovski might still hold a grudge against their old team.
The pair of forwards played together with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2008 through the end of the 2013 season. Grabovski had his playing time cut by coach Randy Carlyle toward the end of the 2013 campaign, and general manager Dave Nonis bought out the remainder of Grabovski’s contact later that year. Kulemin was also noted for having issues with his former coach in Toronto.
So to get back at their old team, the duo challenged Carlyle and Nonis to the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of ALS.
In one of the funnier challenges, Kulemin gets the ice water dumped on his head. Grabovski then pops out of the pool — with his helmet and practice jersey on — and quickly nominates both Nonis and Carlyle to complete the challenge as well.
This is definitely an unconventional way to get back at someone, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless. Safe to say Grabovski and Kulemin won’t be heading out to dinner with their former coach and GM anytime soon.
