Even after trading David Price to the Detroit Tigers, the Tampa Bay Rays are on a roll.
In fact, the team has won 26 of its last 37 games and is just two games under .500 with just over 40 games to go in the regular season. The Rays are 10 games behind the first place Baltimore Orioles, but are only 5.5 games behind the second wild card spot.
Despite their run, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe doesn’t think the Rays have a great shot to make the postseason because they started their strong run a little too late.
Although he gave credit to their pitching, he said there are too many teams in front of them and the team’s slow start put them in too deep of a hole.
Currently, the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals all sit on top of the surging Rays.
