Sebastian VollmerFOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots might be without their starting right tackle in Friday night’s preseason matchup with the Carolina Panthers.

Sebastian Vollmer was absent for undisclosed reasons on Tuesday for the second consecutive Patriots practice. Running back Tyler Gaffney, tight end D.J. Williams and defensive tackles Chris Jones and Seavler Siliga were not spotted on the upper practice field with the rest of the Patriots. Tight end Michael Hoomanawanui, linebacker Cameron Gordon and offensive tackle Chris Martin were seen working with trainers on the lower practice field.

Williams and Siliga were present in the Patriots’ locker room earlier on Tuesday afternoon.

If Vollmer can’t play against the Panthers, fourth-year pro Marcus Cannon likely would take his place. Rookie Cameron Fleming would likely see an increase in snaps, as well.
