Red Sox DH David Ortiz Has ‘Good-Luck Charm’ In ESPN Cameraman (Video)

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has a good-luck charm.

The Sox dropped an 8-7 loss to the New York Yankees on Sunday night, but it wasn’t Ortiz’s doing, as the designated hitter crushed a two-run homer to deep center field at Fenway Park. As Ortiz reached home plate, he could be seen on the ESPN “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast yelling to someone off camera “I told you! I told you!”

It turns out that Ortiz was actually yelling to ESPN cameraman Duke Thorne. ESPN reporter Buster Olney explained that Ortiz now sees Thorne as something of a good-luck charm.

Thorne and Ortiz got familiar with each other on June 8 when Ortiz launched a go-ahead three-run home run against Joba Chamberlain and the Detroit Tigers.

Unfortunately for Ortiz, the Red Sox aren’t scheduled to play on “Sunday Night Baseball” again this season.
