Red Sox Looking To Win On Ben Affleck’s Birthday For First Time Since 1997

It’s time for the Boston Red Sox to reverse a new curse.

Actor and Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Ben Affleck seems to have some sort of jinx on the Red Sox. Aug. 15 is Affleck’s birthday, and since his movie “Good Will Hunting” premiered in 1998, the Red Sox have gone 0-14 on his special day.

The last time Boston won on Aug. 15, it was Reggie Jefferson who won the game for the Red Sox in extra innings against the Minnesota Twins in 1997. No one from that Red Sox team is still an active major leaguer.

This year the Sox have been given a golden opportunity to end the miserable streak as the Houston Astros are in town Friday night, one of baseball’s worst teams. How do you like them apples?
