With Matt Moore battling a shoulder injury, the Miami Dolphins needed to address depth concerns at the quarterback position.
NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington reported Monday that Miami signed Brady Quinn to compete for the No. 2 spot behind Ryan Tannehill with Moore and Pat Devlin, who has had hamstring issues.
Quinn hasn’t played since 2012 when he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. He threw two touchdowns along with a whopping eight interceptions that season.
The Dolphins also worked out Rex Grossman and John Skelton. The team did not give other popular choices like Tim Tebow or Josh Freeman a look.
Quinn was cut by the Seattle Seahawks after the preseason. He later joined the New York Jets but was released in October. He finished the season as Kellen Clemens’ backup in St. Louis.
Quinn was drafted 22nd overall in 2007 by the Cleveland Browns. In 24 career games, Quinn has 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
