Brady Quinn worked out for the Patriots on Monday, a source told ESPN’s Field Yates. Quinn was signed by the St. Louis Rams midway through last season, where he backed up quarterback Kellen Clemens and didn’t receive an offensive snap.
Quinn was drafted by the Cleveland Browns No. 22 overall out of Notre Dame in the 2007 NFL draft. He also has spent time with the Denver Broncos — with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels — Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
Quinn has thrown for 3,043 yards in his six-year career with a 53.8-percent completion percentage, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. His career quarterback rating is 64.4.
The Patriots currently have 2011 third-round pick Ryan Mallett and 2014 second-round pick Jimmy Garoppolo backing up starter Tom Brady at quarterback. Unless the Patriots plan on keeping four quarterbacks during training camp, Mallett likely would need to be moved before Quinn would sign with the Patriots. Mallett has had an impressive first week of training camp.
FOX Sports announced Thursday that Quinn is joining the network as a college football and NFL studio and game analyst.
