Rob GronkowskiRob Gronkowski and his surgically repaired ACL aren’t ready to take the field against an opposing team yet.

The New England Patriots tight end is sitting out of Monday’s joint practice against the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports from Richmond, Va. Gronkowski had been present for all eight of the Patriots’ training camp practices so far this summer, though he has sat out of team drills.

Gronkowski tore his ACL in the Patriots’ Week 14 win over the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 8. He had surgery to repair his knee a month later and has progressed quickly.

Gronkowski looks to be moving well at training camp practices and has taken 1-on-1 snaps against cornerback Darrelle Revis. He only has participated in 11-on-11 drills in a walkthrough capacity.

Running back Brandon Bolden also isn’t present for the joint practice, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: A source tells the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe that Gronkowski didn’t make the trip to Richmond with the rest of the Patriots.
