Richard Sherman and Patrick Peterson provided some entertainment this summer with their Twitter war.
The verbal shots between two of the NFL’s top cornerbacks helped fill the void that the offseason leaves and had football fans hoping for an ignited Arizona Cardinals-Seattle Seahawks rivalry in the fall.
But don’t get too excited. One week after Peterson said the Twitter war was all fun and games, Sherman also confirmed that the feud is nonexistent.
“It’s all fun,” the Seahawks cornerback told 710 ESPN Seattle. “We’re just trying to see who’s the most clever. We’re friends. We’ve known each other since the (NFL) combine (in 2011). We’ve worked out together and he’s a great dude.”
That said, Sherman revealed he still has hard feelings against another familiar NFC West rival: Michael Crabtree of the San Francisco 49ers.
Sherman famously called out Crabtree on national television after the NFC Championship Game in January when the San Francisco receiver refused to shake his hand at the end of the game.
The animosity apparently is still there, and this only means that the 49ers-Seahawks meeting on Thanksgiving Day probably won’t be very friendly.
